2. Just the way you are
3. Secret

I’m not all that sure why November isn’t a winter month (technically it isn’t) but Tatoe Donna ni… lit. Even if is the perfect ballad for winter. Not only has Kana gotten away from that terrible Bohemian look, she’s more like Ayu now, but her vocals are just so astounding. The shear power backed by an orchestra is just an awing sound. There’s just something about this ballad that makes it so beautiful. Whether it’s the heavy ballad arrangement, her impressive vocals, or the melody, it’s one of her best ballads to date. And despite the fact that this ballad is so heart wrenching, just look at the lyrics, it miraculously sounds up-beat.

Truly up-beat and more pop is Just the way you are. No lie, I wouldn’t mind if it were a cover of Bruno Mars’ song. It’s weird because it begins with the piano playing, but as it progresses, it incorporates more of a synth feeling, namely during the chorus. The arrangement is certainly interesting, you should give it a try if anything. Although I’m not quite sure how I feel about this song. Certainly not terrible, but I’m not sure if it’s really all that amazing either. Perhaps it just needs time to grow on me.

Secret is the type of song that I LOVE. It features a heavy synth/dance arrangement, which is always my favorite for some odd reason. The vocal distortions are just awesome, definitely make the song stick out, that and the difference of sound (the chorus sound radically different than the verses, you’d almost think they’re two different songs). I also love this song for not only having that synth arrangement, but also having some pianos. This is definitely the most infectious track on the single, and I say it easily could’ve been an A-Side, it sorta reminds me of MAYBE.

What can I say, Kana is one of Japan’s hottest artists! I’m so glad that she’s so successful now, and that her music is still as good as it was back then, in fact, she’s matured a lot. This is one killer single, and I’m especially happy to see her get her blonde locks back. She’s shown us all yet again that she can dish out ballads, as well as more up-beat pop tracks. I hope we can look forward to hearing more music like this in the future.
