Review:
After Ash Like Snow I’ve pretty much tried to get into tbg, hasn’t worked all that well though xD. LIKE YESTERDAY is more of a throwback to all of their previous works. The alternative rock sound is very prominent. It’s not aggressive, but at the same time it’s not all that soft, it’s a nice compromise between the heavy rock riffs and the synth (yes there’s some synth, well it sounds like it). And at times it sounded like there were some vocal distortions, pretty cool IMO.

As for Spring Gate, it was very interesting. Far more up-beat and energetic when compared to the A-Side. There’s still a strong rock sound, and there are still some distortions, a tad bit boring, yet still pleasant. Also included is an English cover of Sono Speed de, at light speed. I haven’t heard the original, and after this I probably won’t. I like acoustics as much as the next person but this song was too slow and too mundane.

Basically it’s like their old stuff, with a new cover. I personally loved Ash Like Snow so it’s hard to hear them do anything but rock, but this is a fairly decent single. I’m still waiting for some heavier, and preferably more infectious rock music. Not my favorite of 2010, but certainly not the worst.
