Believe in LOVE feat. BoA

Believe in LOVE feat. BoA was ravex’s 2nd single. It was released on February 18, 2009. And for those that don’t know, ravex is a collaboration between the DJs Taku Takahashi (m-flo), Shinichi Osawa (MONDO GROSSO) and Tomoyuki Tanaka (Fantastic Plastic Machine) in celebration of AVEX’s 20th Anniversary, similar to GIRL NEXT DOOR.

Review:
Upon hearing this I immediately fell in love with Believe in LOVE feat. BoA. And with that being said, it’s not too hard to guess who’s the featured artist. This song is pretty sweet and unique as far as songs go. It’s new and invigorating with all the synth riffs and various beeps. The distorted strings were beautiful, and with BoA’s vocals it all sounded so amazing. I loved how there was even some English in this song, it made is much catchier. And as far as infectiousness goes, this song manages to take the cake. The melody is somewhat repetitive, but with all the synth and electronic elements it’s hard not to love this song. I did wish that BoA displayed some more variety in the song, but at least it varied from time to time. It’s just a shame that this was butchered by the Acoustic Version on her triple A-Side single.

It’s been a while and I’m still waiting for Maki Goto to do one song where she’s not the featured artist, but for Golden LUV I can make an exception. It’s an energetic song that features some intense instruments reminiscent of jazz, yet with the synth it has more of a modern feel. The piano plays throughout the verses and it’s great needless to say. But when the brass enters things get more exciting and ecstatic. Maki’s vocals come to life and seemingly enough give life to this beautiful ensemble of instruments. The blaring brass and various synth elements made the song really catchy during the chorus, and Maki’s vocals were awesome, a little too cute, but still awesome. The bridge was really lovely with the strings, giving it a minor classical feel. I still love Fly Away, but this is an excellent song.

I’m not going to get into MEGA ravex but so much. It’s basically a mixture of many songs all compressed into one song. It features a lot of artists and for the most part the songs will be featured on their debut album. It begins with House Nation feat LISIA then moves on. Eventually it goes to Believe in LOVE followed later by Golden LUV, just think of it as a fusion of all the songs that will be on their debut.

Overall Review: Believe in LOVE feat. BoA was sultry synth perfection! This has got to be one of the greatest collaboration singles in ages. First off it features BoA, who has gotten better with her English. Second it has Maki Goto, who’s been making a strong comeback since her H!P days. Both songs featured some really great synth elements, which made them both pretty infectious. I was really excited to hear Maki sing another song, her debut avex album isn’t far away either. The MEGA ravex is really interesting, and I’ll leave it at that. Overall it’s rather impressive, especially with BoA and Gocchin.

Final Grade: 100A+

Oh my god, Taku Takahashi and Shinichi Osawa
    they were such brilliant producers.
I’ve searched Shinichi Osawa’s work after listening to excellent Nobuchika Eri self-titled album that he produced.
    Thanks for reviewing this
