Reviews:
Beautiful World, the sad song with such a positive vibe. This song is pretty much an experimental pop song, like much of her ULTRA BLUE work. The song begins right off with the chorus along with the piano. The piano cords are so amazing when you hear them. The song is very catchy and the chorus is so simple, yet so good. The chorus is filled with some of the best lyrics and some of the catchiest music in years. It’s almost like dance music in my opinion. Towards the end of the song her voice distortions sound completely breath taking. The song includes some well thought lyrics and some of the best music I’ve heard. It was used as the theme song for Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone and was played at the end, it fits the movie very well. Overall this song is one of her best works in years.

Kiss & Cry, the effervescent summer tune. It was originally released on April as a preview and was released as a digital single in May of 2007. It was used as a commercial for Freedom’s Cup Noodles. In this song she gets back to her R&B roots. The song starts off with some percussion instruments and quickly become catchy from there. It uses the melody of Hotel Lobby, another Utada song found on her Exodus Album. The chorus is so catchy and so up-beat, one of the reasons why it’s a favorite among people nowadays. The song even mentions “cup noodles, cup noodles, cup noodles” a reason why she could only perform it once. Overall a very upbeat song.

Fly Me To The Moon (In Other Words) -2007 Mix-. I was so happy to see a -2007 Mix- at the end but it turned out to be the same, except for a slightly different music background. The song is still good but it’s the same as it was when it was released over 7 years ago. Her English is perfect and she adds a somewhat R&B edge, and it’s very tiny, to the song. I just love how Hikki manges to make this classic song even better. Still amazing as always.

Overall Review: Beautiful World / Kiss & Cry was pop sensation with a sparkle of summer fun. It has a beautiful pop song with an effervescent R&B track, and it contains a beautiful English classic. I just loved how they all seemed to fit so well into the single. It seemed to fit with the whole summer single theme, and the cover was so amazing. Hopefully this will set general trend of her music now. This was a great single that everyone should listen to.

  1. […] Beautiful World, Do you still not realize your own beauty? This song was released as the third single of the album along with Kiss & Cry. It was also the image song for Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone. This is one of her most beautiful songs in years and it’s so catchy. The chorus filled with the piano chords is so majestic. Here the lyrics talk about having just one wish come true, and telling a beautiful boy that he still doesn’t realize his beauty. The verses are simple and yet still sound so good, so elegant. This song has grown to be one of my favorite songs from Hikki. Click here for the full review of Beautiful World. […]

  2. […] version of Flavor of Life, amazing epic hit. Then came the double A-side singles, both incredible. Beautiful World was the up-beat yet depressing song, while Kiss & Cry was the effervescent throwback. HEART […]
