Be My Last

Be My Last was Utada’s 14th single and was released on September 28, 2005.  The single reached number 1 on the charts with a little more than 80,000+ copies sold. And would go on to sell over 150,000 copies and would be come the number 2 most downloaded song in Japan, according to Itunes Japan. This was also the third single in the ULTRA BLUE Era.

Be My Last

1. Be My Last

One of her most mature songs to date is Be My Last. This ballad acoustic features the acoustic guitar, the drums, and the piano. The chorus is quite profound and sounds riveting. And while it might not sound all that catchy, it certainly is beautiful. The lyrics are nicely written and you can tell a lot of thought was put into it. Hikki’s vocals were absolutely stunning. There was so much power and so much emotional, that was heard throughout the song. There was also some English used in this song, and it too was fantastic. It’s truly a masterpiece that everyone should listen to.

Overall Review: Be My Last was acoustic maturity. This single serves as a prime example of how much Hikki has changed over the years as well as how she has improved. The music was lovely and the vocals were inspiring. Although I wish there were more, I’m fairly content with this single. Another magnificent single in the ULTRA BLUE Era.
