Reincarnation was Ami Suzuki’s 30th single. It was released on February 25, 2009. This single was produced by Taku of m-flo, rather than Yasutaka Nakata.

Reincarnation - Ami Suzuki

Tracks:
1. Reincarnation
2. Dub-I-Dub
3. Reincarnation -Extended Version-
4. Reincarnation -Instrumental-

Review:
Well it’s safe to say that Ami is back, but really Reincarnation is a flop. In the beginning the song is pretty mundane with just Ami’s vocals and some annoying keyboard keys. Things don’t get interesting until the 1:09 mark and even then it’s not all that great. The music, despite being electronic and featuring amazing distortions, doesn’t really work with this song and Ami’s normal vocals, I mean the vocoder did a lot for her voice. Not only that but the music and the obnoxious beeps got annoying so quickly. But despite all of that I do have to admit that I did find the melody to be a little catchy. Still the verses really killed this song.

Let’s face it, the title track sucked, but luckily the B-Side Dub-I-Dub makes up for it. It’s a cover of the classic DDR song, and Ami does a really good job with this song. This song still features that infectious synth / techno music, but it’s on the light side of things compared to the previous song. All of this song is in English, which is good and bad. At times it’s a little hard to understand Ami, but for the most part it’s entertaining. There’s still a hint of the vocoder here which is actually a wonderful sound, her vocals sound a hell of a lot better. It’s actually a very catchy song, and it really saves this single.

I’m not exactly sure what the point of adding an Extended Version of Reincarnation was. The original was so long and boring enough as it is, and now they’ve found a way to make it even worse. The beginning is just like the original with the keyboard chords, which still sound annoying. Nothing has changed for the most part except for the longer intro and outro.

Overall Review: Reincarnation was a squalid rebirth. Seriously, with the title I expected a lot from this song. But all I got was a crappy electronic tune. I really think that her music was a lot better when Yasutaka Nakata was producing it. I mean Taku could have at least made the music sound good with her vocals, he did a great job with Rie fu’s Romantic. Truthfully the title track was just too annoying, music and all. The B-Side really saved this song to say the least, it more than made up for that horrible title track. I feel like this single is attempting to mimic her FREE FREE / SUPER MUSIC MAKER with the extended version, and the attempted electronic sound. Not the best rebirth sadly.

Alright! was Ami Suzuki’s 21st single. It was released on May 17, 2006 and reached no. 17 on the Oricon Charts with 9,937 copies sold. In all this single has sold over 16,200+ copies. The title track was used in the Japanese TV show Itadaki Muscle! as well as the “Power Play” track of TV show Ongaku Senshi MUSIC FIGHTER for May. This was the third single in the CONNETTA Era.

Tracks:
1. Alright!
2. Hare Moyou.
3. Alright! (Instrumental)
4. Hare Moyou. (Instrumental)

Review:
For some reason I’ve decided to review Ami’s Alright! I guess I’ve always liked this song so I figured it’d be good to review. It’s pretty up-beat and dance oriented, perfect for her really. It follows a little in the footsteps of her AROUND THE WORLD album, but it’s softer and lighter when it comes to the dance music. Anyway, this song features some great dance music with some rather great synth beats; it really makes for the perfect chorus, which sounds great and is pretty infectious. However, everywhere else, the music is soft and sweet, featuring a twinkling sound. Ami displayed some amazing vocals in this song, they were a little deeper than usual, but they were still amazing. And I have to say that her English wasn’t all that bad. This is the perfect summer song!

Contrasting to the title track is Hare Moyou. Instead of being up-beat and pretty fast paced, it’s more mid-tempo and more mellow. It’s laid-back and features the percussion and occasional brass, giving it a small jazz feeling. Here Ami’s vocals were softer, not all too powerful and up-beat, but still nice overall. This song isn’t anything special, it’s mediocre at best.

Overall Review: Alright was summer dance perfection! It might be one of Ami’s older songs, but it’s still one of her best. It’s up-beat and it’s a energetic dance tune that’s perfect for partying in the sun. It’s not too obnoxious and annoying either. I wish that the b-side would have been better, but as long as the title track is good, it’s okay. Another amazing single int he CONNETTA Era.

Supreme Show was Ami Suzuki’s 7th studio album. It was released on November 12, 2008 and debuted at no. 8 on the Oricon Charts with 8,748 copies sold. In all this album has sold over 13,094+ copies. This is Ami’s first non-collaboration album since AROUND THE WORLD (2005). This album is also her 10th Anniversary album as well as her first to be produced by Yasutaka Nakata. That being said, all of the songs feature that infamous techno sound. TEN was used as the ~12 Honda Cars Campaign (Limited Region) Tie Up CM.

1. TEN
2. can’t stop the DISCO
3. climb up to the top
4. SUPER MUSIC MAKER (SA’08S / A mix)
5. Mysterious
6. change my life
7. LOVE MAIL
8. A token of love
9. TRUE
10. flower
11. ONE

Review:
Possibly signifying Ami’s 10 years in the music business is TEN. Oddly enough it begins the album, and on a very positive note I might add. The music is techno oriented, but it’s not so overwhelming, instead it’s up-beat and somewhat light when it comes to the sound. Of course there are some great synth elements present too. And the beats resemble drums, but they’re incredible. The vocals are distorted, but that’s nothing new for Ami. The distorted vocals seem to mesh well together with the music. However, as to the overall appeal of the song, it’s not all that great. It does sound great, and some parts are catchy, but it’s not nearly as amazing as ONE. It’s a great show stopper, but will it be memorable?

Heavily techno oriented is can’t stop the DISCO. The vocals are more distorted in this song, and they’re a bit deeper. The music sounds a little dark, but it sounds infectious. The verses sounded amazing, it must be
the deep vocals. That and the music all made it awesome. But what I loved the most about it was the climax. It kept building up and then BAM! The chorus appears and it’s infectious. The incredible new music that’s more techno sounding, and the English all make it so memorable. This is what I call memorable.

Still behind the previous track and not so good is climb up to the top. It was previously a B-Side and that’s where it should have stayed. The music is a little softer when it comes to all the techno elements and such but this song just stinks. Ami really doesn’t sing that much, it’s more yelling and speaking than anything. I wish she recorded a little more new material rather than have this song the album.

The new incarnation of SUPER MUSIC MAKER has arrived, and it’s the (SA’08S / A mix). Although this was released on her previous single, I still can’t get enough of it. The techno and synth elements have been toned down dramatically for a newer, purer sound. The distortions have ceased for the most part, allowing for some better and more refined vocals. But despite removing all of the heavy music, the song is still fun and exciting. The acoustic guitar was a nice touch too. overall the song is just as catchy as before, maybe not infectious now, but still amazing.

One of the six new tracks is Mysterious. The techno and synth a little deep and low toned, somewhat mysterious. The vocals too as pretty deep, and maybe even a little scary, not scary, but creepy. Anyway, the music sounds pretty nice, the best part was after the chorus when the synth elements were more present. The only problem I had with this song was the whole monotone aspect. Her vocals sounded the same to the extent where it just felt so repetitive. Not her finest work that’s for sure.

More up-beat and energetic is change my life. The techno & synth aren’t really in full blast here, but they sound better than the previous song. The drum beats and the keyboard make for some nice instrumentals. The vocals are higher and have more variety thankfully. But honestly this song still lacks a catchy chorus that really hooks you in. It’s a shame too because this song had some potential.

Oddly enough it appears that all of the titles in caps seem to be amazing tracks, and LOVE MAIL is no exception. The music is more dance and synth than heavy techno, and it’s a great change. The synthesizer is in full blast with this song providing some incredible beats. The vocals are still distorted but this time there’s more variety. They’re pretty normal in the verses, but high in the chorus. And the chorus is just energetic. It’s infectious, but not too obnoxious, and it features some English. I loved it when she shouted out “LOVE MAIL” in those cute vocals of hers, so incredible. And the Japanese sounded great too. I personally think it’s because the melody is catchy, and the distortions added. The bridge was fast paced and short, but it was just what the song needed. You could possibly lose yourself in this song, so be warned.

A little behind is A token of love. This heavy techno & synth song is still in my opinion, B-Side material. The melody is still as catchy as before, but it doesn’t compare to some of her newer material. But in the same respect, it’s better than some of the newer songs on this album. I still find the verses great, especially with the vocals, despite being distorted. However I still don’t find the chorus all so catchy, but it’s better than some of the songs on this album. Not so bad overall.

Very synth feeling is TRUE. It’s a bit different when compared to her previous songs in the sense that it appears to either have some incredible synth sounding elements or the strings, either way it’s mesmerizing. And not only that but the synth elements are softer in their sound and more beautiful. The vocals were rather enjoyable and amazing as usual. Just like LOVE MAIL and ONE, this song features an infectious chorus. The beats are incredibly hot, and so addictive. It’s hook, line, and sinker. Once you’re hooked, you can’t help but listen to this song again and again.

The final new track on this album is entitled flower. This song seems to feature some string sounding instruments, along with a piano/keyboard. But honestly, it’s still not all that great. The techno beats are heavy in the sense that they’re so slow and just long. Ami’s vocals were quite deep at certain points, but better during the chorus. The music might have been a little slow, but it was catchy. The melody turned out to be somewhat catchy, and the toned down techno elements were nice. I think if the song were a little faster, it’d be better. But overall it’s a nice track.

Finishing the album ironically is the track entitled ONE. This son originally kicked off the Supreme Show Era, and it’s a superb ending track. It’s energetic and infectious, it’s new and sensational, and it’s so addictive. The music is more up-beat and more techno & synth oriented. Not to mention the great distorted vocals. As for the melody, this song dominates. It has the best melody on the album, which is why it’s the most infectious song. The chorus features some great English and some awesome Japanese lyrics. And those beats and that incredible music blend together to create an phenomenal techno song. It might be the oldest song on the album, but it’s definitely one of the best. A fitting way to end Supreme Show.

Overall Review: Supreme Show was techno & synth supremacy! This album is just what the doctor ordered. It’s new, extremely catchy, and just plain fun! It really shows off Ami’s newfound techno style, and will surely be a memorable and signature album. I loved the overall theme, which obviously was techno & synth. And it’s very popular right now in Japan, Perfume is a bit example. Anyway, I loved most of the songs on this album. Her singles were amazing, and most of the songs on the album were too. That being said, a few could have used some work. Mostly in the vocals and tempo section, it shouldn’t be too slow and too deep, it should be a little more up-beat; thankfully it was for only a few songs though. But overall such a mind blowing album. This album really is no. 1!

For some reason I’ve found myself loving Ami Suzuki more than ever, and to celebrate it I wanted to make a new banner. Well I should say that I was actually feeling very inspired by the FREE FREE / SUPER MUSIC MAKER scans and that’s why I made it, either way I love Ami Suzuki! But the thing is, I have two banners. Each one is the same basically, but one is neon, the other is normal. So which one do you like the best? Feel free to comment, it’ll be here for a while and depending on which one you like, it’ll be chosen for a while. So vote, or you might have to endure a not so cool banner. And I’m hoping to later review more Ami Suzuki if I can find some more singles besides Delightful. So here are the options below, vote vote vote!

EDIT: After hearing the responses it seems like the neon banner is out, so now I have two more choices. So vote again, and pick which one you want to be viewed, the first one is currently being used as the main banner.

In all this album has sold over 10,835+ copies. A grand total of three editions were released, a first press edition with a photobook, a CD+DVD edition, and a CD edition. The first press edition featured the track “if.” Strangely enough, this album reached number 26 on the charts just like CONETTA, and was originally named CONETTA 2 but was changed for some reason.

Review:
The begins with the ever-infectious FREE FREE. It was the first song in her DOLCE Era and oddly enough kicks off the album. It features some amazing distorted vocals and infectious synth beats. The music is a mixture of heavy dance beats and synth instrumentals. The verses are sung entirely in Japanese for the most part and the chorus is all English. It’s a pretty addictive song especially during the chorus. I wanna be FREE! And I loved the verses more than the chorus oddly enough, but the song overall was such a flashy, infectious dance tune. This song’s collaborator was Nakata Yasutaka. What a way to kick off DOLCE.

The next song that follows is feel the beat (album version). The original version was featured as the B-Side on Potential Breakup Song, and it was extremely long winded. Originally lasting over eight minutes, this version was shortened to about five and a half minutes. I honestly couldn’t stand the original version as it was just way to focused on the beats rather than Ami’s vocals. But in this version, it’s gotten a little better, and there’s no enormous intro thankfully. I still don’t like this song but at least it’s more tolerable now. And here SUGIURUMN was collaborator, or song producer, either way he’s credited for something.

After the previous song, things seem to take a right turn and somehow ends up at Potential Breakup Song. This song was also released as a single and it was downright fantastic! Despite being a cover song Ami owns the song hands down. I did love how it was in Japanese rather than in English and how Aly & Aj, the collaborators, would sing background, and in Japanese! The verses were impressively catchy, yet the chorus was just amazing. Not to mention is was additive. The music in this song was more club oriented and the music was fast paced. I can’t think of a better song from Ami!

Another stunning song is next and it just happens to be Bitter… This song was basically used to promote the album, and the PV for it was just wonderful. The piano and violins in the beginning made me think ballad. But then it changes into a new wave of music with a constant beat and claps. Ami’s vocals were just so great, I mean they could use some work at times but they were enjoyable, not too overpowering. The chorus here was particularly great. Not only was it catchy but Ami’s vocals were just gorgeous. I also loved how it was still mid-tempo along with the English lyrics. The best part about this song is that it’s not dance oriented. I love Ami’s dance songs but this one isn’t so it’s a nice change. The collaborator was STUDIO APARTMENT for this particular song.

I’m pretty sure that the name SWEET DANCE gives away the song’s genre. It’s a great dance song, but it’s not all that heavy techno oriented like FREE FREE, so it’s actually a wonderful change. The music begins softly but slowly builds up until Ami’s vocals become stronger. While Ami’s vocals were distorted a little you could still hear her true vocals. The music for once was a little on the lighter side, featuring some small synth beats. And although the chorus wasn’t all that catchy is was great, in a cute kind of way. RAM RIDER is the collaborator, but I remember him from a remix of Real me by Ayu.

Leave it to CAPTAIN FUNK’s collaboration, The WeekeND, to be a really funky song. It almost reminds me of a disco song from the 70’s. Again Ami’s vocals were distorted a little, but for the most part they were untouched. Beside being funky and odd, it’s the longest song on the album, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad. The instrumentals were very synth oriented and all of the beats were actually good. It just sounds out of place for this music era. I don’t think the song is overall that catchy but it’s not bad either, just needs some help.

Easily one of my favorite songs on the entire album, SUPER MUSIC MAKER (radio edit) makes its move. Like FREE FREE it began the DOLCE Era as a double A-Side single. This song features some amazing techno beats and energetic music. And as you might have guessed, the original version was way to long for the album so the radio edit was featured instead. There are still distorted vocals in this song, but you can actually hear Ami’s real vocals more easily. Surprisingly the verses were entertaining, and catchy. The chorus was quite energetic and up-beat, not to mention just plain catchy. Hey you YEAH! you have to listen to this amazing song. And just like FREE FREE, this song’s collaborator was Nakata Yasutaka.

Another RAM RIDER cover is MUSIC, and go figure that he’s the collaborator. This song is definitely more dance oriented and faster paced than SWEET MUSIC. It’s no surprise that Ami’s vocals are distorted but they’re actually great. I particularly loved the chorus. It was so up-beat and not to mention catchy. I was thrilled that there was some English in this song and that it sounded great. If fun dance songs are your thing, listen to MUSIC!

A little slower paced is the dance tune entitled Stereo Love. When compared to the other songs her vocals are a bit slower but at the same time they sound better. There aren’t as many distortions as before either, which makes the song a little more original. And the song actually isn’t all dance, nor is it all pop. It’s more of a fusion of dance & pop, with a little synth. I just wish that there was a little more variety in this song. Not even the English was all that great. And I’m not exactly sure who the collaborator Tomoe Shinohara☆☆☆ is, maybe he’s some dance artist or techno.

Next is Ai no Uta lit. Love Song. And a lot, and I mean a lot of artists have songs entitled Ai no Uta, must be very popular. But unlike those songs this one isn’t a ballad, it’s actually more rock really. This song is more upbeat and features a rock/pop sound with some excellent brass instrumentals. I’m not too crazy about ROCKETMAN feat.YOU THE ROCK★’s vocals but they could have been worse. I did love how there was a lot of English in the song, but there was just one thing that couldn’t tolerate. It was the fact that Ami only sang the chorus. It’s as if she was the background singer, but at least when she sang it was good.

Following Ai no Uta is Futari wa POP lit. Our POP. And it’s actually a pop song, well partially, I actually hear some none pop sounds, just don’t know what it is. And this song is actually different from most songs on the album as it’s rather up-beat and just pop sounding, no techno, synth, or rock. One thing I noticed about this song is that it has an almost 50’s quality to it, but it’s still a pop song. The chorus in my opinion is so-so and really repetitive. I’m not sure if Hoff Dylan was singing or not, some parts sounded like him but they also could have been Ami, either way it’s ok.

Ending the regular editions is Atarashii Hibi lit. New Day. It’s actually a light rock song for the most part. The guitar is the main instrumental, hence the light rock, but it’s not that overwhelming. I particularly enjoyed Ami’s vocals because they weren’t distorted and they just sounded so great with the rock music. I personally think the guitar made the song better than some of those dance/club songs on the album. The collaborator here was YO-KING, who I’m guessing played the guitar. But what I liked most about this song was the chorus hands down, it was so catchy and so just so different from all of her previous songs.

Now if you were to purchase the first press Photobook edition you would receive the bonus track if. And one of the perks of getting the photobook edition beside the extra track is the fact that if has no collaborator, which makes it pretty special. The song features some great acoustics along with some piano chords. I also loved the English in this song, especially during the chorus. For one there were no distortions featured in this song and it was such a refreshing change. As for the chorus, well it was so sweet and adorable. Not to mention when the strings came out either, that only made it better. “if I could be with you…” it’s so simple yet when she sings it, it’s so beautiful and innocent. What a beautiful and surprisingly awesome way to end DOLCE.

Overall Review: DOLCE was an amazing collaboration album. After looking at the chart performance I was a bit skeptical to hear this album, but now I’m so glad I decided to give it a chance. It was surprisingly good, and despite all of the collaborations it was fantastic. Ami did such an amazing job. I think it’s a shame that it didn’t do so well on the charts but it still made it, so that’s good. And for some reason, DOLCE reminds me of the Spanish dulce meaning sweet. With that being said this is a really sweet album. And it also reminds me of the designer and like the designs, this album is classy, not to mention pink!

Potential Breakup Song October 4, 2008

Potential Breakup Song was Ami Suzuki’s 28th single. It was released on November 11, 2007 and reached number 34 on the charts with 4,151 copies sold, but it peaked at 16. In all it would go on to sell over 5,956+ copies. The title track was used as the theme song for the Japanese horror movie X-Cross, which Ami stared in. Following the trend of her previous singles, this song’s collaborators were Aly & Aj and SUGIURUMN. This was the second and final single in the DOLCE Era.

Potential Breakup Song - Ami Suzuki

Tracks:
1. Potential Breakup Song
2. feel the beat
3. Potential Breakup Song (sugiurumn remix)
4. Potential Breakup Song (Instrumental)

Review:
The first song featured on this single is entitled Potential Breakup Song. This is actually cover song of the same name by Aly & Aj. But unlike most cover songs, it’s done in Japanese and actually features Aly & Aj, in other words, they actually sing a few lines and in Japanese too. Unlike the original song, which featured a pop sound, this cover features a more prominent dance or club sound. The music was surprisingly catchy and I love the castanets too, odd yet very effective. Ami’s vocals were excellent in this song, and I even enjoyed Aly & Aj’s vocals too. I loved how they sang in the background and how they even sang in Japanese! But still Ami dominated this song. The chorus was a particular highlight and it was stupendous. It was fast paced and rather infectious. The music was what really made it amazing for the most part, the other had to have been Ami’s vocals!

The next song feel the beat is perhaps one of her longest and annoying songs to date. This time the collaborator is SUGIURUMN. It’s an extremely long winded song at just over eight minutes. The music is predominantly heavy dance music. The only thing Ami sings in this song is just “I feel the beat” for the most part, and it gets annoying after a while. Well she sings more but it’s very bland, I mean it was all in English and it still sounded horrible. I honestly think the song is focused more on the beats rather than Ami’s vocals. Thank goodness it was shortened on the album, otherwise it would have been worse.

Finishing up the single for the most part is Potential Breakup Song (sugiurumn remix). This remix is remixed by SUGIURUMN, and it’s not all that bad. Although the beginning sounds strange and out of place, it eventually transforms into a slower version of the original music. That and there are more beats infused. After that it gets so much better, you can actually hear some great vocals unlike the previous song, you just have to endure the long intro. The vocals in this song are also prolonged and it’s not half bad. One good thing is that you can actually hear but everyone is singing now that it’s been slowed down.

Overall Review: Potential Breakup Song was a flawless, club single. Everything about this single echoed that stereotypical club feel. The title track was such an amazing cover and very unique. It’s pretty memorable as a song, and as a PV, but I won’t get into that. I do wish that the B-side could have been better but overall it was tolerable. I loved the remix of the title track, it might have been prolonged but it was impressive nonetheless, and more understandable to some degree. I was thrilled that this single had one theme, and that naturally was a club theme; as most singles seem to be so chaotic and have no central theme. What an impressive way to end the DOLCE Era.

Hi everyone. As a lot of you know, I’ve been posting like crazy, well about 1 post per day for the most part. And it’s getting a little tiring. I still love the site and everything and nothing will change, but for now posts might come maybe every 2 days now or so. I still want to get more viewers and all, but school is yet again getting in the say. I have the SATs in less than 9 hours and I still need to sleep, get ready, and that means hardly any sleep sadly. But besides that I have more courses this year that require more attention and a lot more studying. So I’m still going to check the site daily, but posts will come sporadically maybe… and then I might re-review some old material. But in the mean time, I’ve already reviewed some stuff so that’ll come out once I post it. But on to some blog stats:

Btw, any fans of Ami Suzuki might want to view my review of FREE FREE / SUPER MUSIC MAKER. Not only have I edited it, but I’ve found some amazing scans that I’ve added to the review, some great eye candy. And soon I’ll do a re-review of DOLCE.

can’t stop the DISCO September 24, 2008

can’t stop the DISCO was Ami Suzuki’s 29th single. It was released on September 24, 2008 and reached number 17 on the charts with 4,655 copies sold. Once again this single, like the previous ONE, was produced by techno master Yasutaka Nakata. This single is also the final single in Ami’s new Era.

can't stop the disco - Ami Suzuki

Tracks:
1. can’t stop the DISCO
2. climb up to the top
3. SUPER MUSIC MAKER(SA’08S/A mix)

Review:
Well one thing I expected from can’t stop the DISCO was a rather dance/techno/synth feeling sound. And I was right, and actually happy too. The synth/techno beats in the beginning were really defining the song, that and the distorted vocals which I loved to death! I normally don’t find the verses all that exciting, but this time they were, especially when they made for such an awesome climax. Initially I really didn’t like the chorus that much, I mean it was catchy but not nearly as good as ONE. But after a few listens I began to love it, still not as infectious and up-beat as ONE but it’ll do. Like I said before, vocals were amazing, distortions were amazing. The constant thumping beats and infectious melody was all so good.

Following the title track is the darker and more techno/electronica climb to the top. After an instrumental opening you finally hear Ami sing, but it’s not all that good at this point, just a few words here and there. I was hoping for something a little better, but it never comes. It’s basically 6:32 of heavy beats and music, with a few English words sporadically. Honestly I though it’d be better, but it was a flop.

Time for the final track, and one of my favorite songs from Ami, SUPER MUSIC MAKER(SA’08S/A mix). The original was released back in 2007, and after hearing that a remix would be featured on this single, I became so excited. In this remix the heavy beats are toned down a bit, and the dance music is replaced with more pop friendly elements. But the one thing I loved the most was how her vocals were distorted less, you could actually hear them more. It made for a very nice change, quite good actually. It still featured that infectious chorus, not as great as before but it was good. I’m so happy it’ll be on her new album in November.

Overall Review: can’t stop the DISCO was Yasutaka perfection! It featured all those things that made Yasutaka famous, and all of his artists he produces. The title track was infectious and exuberant! The B-Side could have been better, it remind me a little of Perfume’s songs with the sporadic lyrics. But the remix was incredible!!! I still love the original, but this remix is still amazing. Although at times I felt it was rather week, overall it was impressive. A stunning and shining way to end her new era.

Well this post right here isn’t a review page, that’s pretty obvious, instead it’s somewhat of a news page. Now I’m sure some people all ready know, but it appears that one of AVEX’s most popular J-Rock bands Do As Infinity is back! After three years of their departure they’re now reuniting, and on September 30, 2008 luckily. On that date they’ll have a free concert at Yoyogi Park. Now I was very sad when I found out they disbanded 2 years ago xD but that was when I first heard DAI; and now I’m so thrilled to find out that they’re coming back. I’m sure that they’ll be better than ever! Some new material might be released around Spring 2009, so get ready!

Moving on… the awesome and new sexy star Ami Suzuki will be releasing another single. It’s scheduled to be released on September 24, 2008 and it’s entitled Can’t stop the DISCO. It’s her follow-up to ONE and it’s produced by Yasutaka Nakata. It also includes a remix of SUPER MUSIC MAKER, which makes me want it even more. Anyway, here are the tracks; and expect a review!

1. can’t stop the DISCO
2. climb up to the top
3. SUPER MUSIC MAKER(SA’08S/A mix)

And as for the covers, I love them both. And I’m not sure which one is better. What’s your opinion on the covers? Feel free to respond.

And I know that I didn’t mention alan, but I love alan! And I’ve been waiting for forever to find out about her new singles. So far I’ve found out about the new B-Side on Kaze no Tegami, not sure how good it’ll be but I’m excited, with a name like Kagome lit. Woven-Bamboo Pattern, it has to be interesting. But what I’ve been dying to know is how will the covers of her new Fire themed single, RED CLIFF ~Kokoro Ikusa~, look? And today I finally found out. And they look so cool too, very red and Asian. Now the main reason I wanted to see them was because this single is going to be the Japanese edition, and I loved the Chinese edition’s cover, very simple and elegant. I loved the CD version because it was so elegant and serene. However, I loved the CD+DVD edition because it was fierce, well that and alan looked so beautiful. And it matched the whole fire theme. Again which cover do you think is better? Comment if you’d like.

ONE was Ami Suzuki’s 29th single. It was released on July 2, 2008 and reached number 17 on the charts with 5,103 copies sold. This single was her first single not to be a joining single, and her first produced by Nakata Yasutaka, the producer of Perfume. And because of Yasutaka as the producer, all songs have been electronically distorted, similar to FREE FREE / SUPER MUSIC MAKER. ONE was used to mark her 10th Anniversary in the music business. This single began the  Supreme Show Era.

ONE - Ami Suzuki

Tracks:
1. ONE
2. A token of love
3. ONE (Instrumental)
4. A token of love (FM88 mix)

Review:
Being produced by Yasutaka, ONE has that infamous heavy techno/synth vibe, similar to FREE FREE. But this song is much better, and I mean it. It opens up with some phenomenal heavy dance music, followed by Ami singing in some great distorted vocals. And to top is off Ami is looking good, and it’s like Kuu-Chan good, maybe even better. But the verses moved so smoothly and the music was just so incredible. This song is pure exhilarating, dance music. As for the chorus, it was a mind-blower, it was so infectiously addictive. What’s even better was that it even used a little English. The PV for this song was so neon, and so cool. This song was just what Ami needed, go Ami!

After hearing ONE I was so excited to hear A token of love, however this song was a little disappointing. The song starts off like a heavy techno/trance song well enough with some very very heavy beats. But as soon as I’m ready for Ami to sing, she just ad-libs for what seems like a long time. Well afterwards she begins to sing in some distorted vocals, but this time the music isn’t as good. It’s definitely not as exciting as ONE. And as for the chorus, well I did like how she used some English but again I say it, the music wasn’t that great. If the music isn’t as good then the song will suffer. Now I did like the chorus believe it or not, but it wasn’t that strong. This song has so much potential, it’s such a shame it’s not that good.

Since the original version was somewhat of a flop I had no idea what to expect from A token of love (FM88 mix). I did notice that it was shorter so I was hoping there’d be more of a focus on Ami’s vocals rather than the music. And I was right, it skipped that intro with the music and just went into the ad-libbing. The vocals were pretty much the same, so I can’t complain. I guess this version is better, it’s similar to the SUPER MUSIC MAKER (radio edit) in the shortening sense.

Overall Review: ONE was a complete turn around for Ami. This up-beat sparkly song was just what she needed. And I was so thrilled that it wasn’t another collaboration single. It reminds me a little of Perfume’s music with the synth and techno but Ami makes it so much better. And from the covers you could get a little insight into what the single would be like, very techno dance. The B-Side could’ve been better but otherwise the single was superb. What a spectacular and impressive way to begin her Supreme Show Era of music. Shine shine number ONE!
